The Empire HMFA External Forced Air Heat Management System is designed for compatible Empire fireplaces to help manage room heat during fireplace operation. Its variable-speed blower diverts a portion of the heated air from the fireplace through a dedicated duct system and discharges it to the exterior of the building.
The HMFA includes the primary components needed for the forced-air heat management system, including the blower assembly, exterior termination components, duct connections, speed control, junction box, and installation hardware. The Empire SD6DFA25 Flex Vent Kit is required and sold separately to complete the system.

Required SD6DFA25 Flex Vent Kit
Flex venting is not included with the HMFA. Empire specifies the separately sold SD6DFA25 Flex Vent Kit, which includes 25 feet of flex vent and two band clamps needed to complete the system installation.
Installation Note
Because the HMFA removes heated air from the building, adequate fresh make-up air must be provided to help prevent negative pressure inside the structure. Empire states that the HMFA system has the potential to expel up to 150 CFM.
All applications require at least 7 feet of flex vent between the Y-connector and the blower. The Y-connector and flex vent ductwork require a minimum 3-inch clearance to combustible construction. Electrical connections require a 120 VAC supply and must be completed by a qualified electrician.
